What Second Table does — and doesn't do

We are an introduction service, nothing more. Second Table lets a business post food it has available and lets a verified collector request it. We do not buy, sell, store, handle, inspect, transport, or deliver any food. Every pickup and handoff happens directly between the business and the collector, arranged between them.

We are not a party to that exchange. We make no promise about the quantity, quality, safety, freshness, or condition of any food, or that a posted donation will actually be available when a collector arrives.

Who can use it

You may create an account only if:

• You are at least 18 years old and can enter a binding agreement.
• You are signing up on behalf of a real business or a real nonprofit organization, and you are authorized to represent it.
• The information you give us — name, address, phone, and the rest — is truthful.

Every business and collector is manually reviewed before it is approved. We may approve, decline, suspend, or remove any account at our discretion, for any reason, including if we can't verify who you are.

Food safety is on the business and the collector

The business donating food is responsible for following all applicable food-safety laws and handling the food properly up to the moment of pickup. The collector is responsible for transporting, storing, and distributing it safely afterward. Both parties should satisfy themselves that a donation is safe before it changes hands.

Food donations made in good faith are generally protected under the federal Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act and similar state laws. Second Table is not a substitute for that protection and does not provide legal advice — if either party has questions about liability, they should talk to a lawyer.

Your account

Keep your password confidential; you're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us right away at secondtabledmv@gmail.com if you think someone else has access. Don't use Second Table to post anything false, to harass anyone, to break the law, or to interfere with how the site works.

No warranties

Second Table is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular business or collector is a good match for you. You use it at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Second Table and its founder are not liable for any injury, illness, loss, or damage arising from food donated or collected through the service, from any interaction between a business and a collector, or from your use of the site. Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed one hundred dollars.

Changes

We may update these terms as Second Table grows. If we make a significant change, we'll update the date at the top and, where it matters, let account holders know. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
