Privacy Policy
Last updated July 17, 2026
This policy explains what Second Table collects, why, and who we share it with. We keep it short because we collect little. We don't sell your information, and we don't run advertising.
What we collect
When you create an account, you give us:
- Your email address and a password (the password is stored encrypted, never in plain text).
- Your organization's name, type, address, and a contact name and phone number.
- Anything else you choose to type in, like a description of your business.
As you use the site, we also store the food listings you post, the pickups you request, and the donation records that result. We keep basic technical logs (such as timestamps and error reports) to keep the service running and secure.
How we use it
- To run the service — showing your listings to nearby collectors, or your organization to businesses.
- To verify you're a real business or nonprofit before approving your account.
- To send you email you'd expect: account confirmation, approval decisions, and pickup notifications.
- To contact you by phone as part of verification.
What other users see
Second Table works by making introductions, so some of your information is shown to the people you're matched with. A business browsing collectors sees your organization name, type, and city; a collector who requests a donation shares its details with that business so the two of you can coordinate the pickup. Don't put anything in a listing or profile that you wouldn't want your matched partner to see.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information or share it for advertising. We use a few trusted service providers to run Second Table, and your data passes through them only for that purpose:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles account logins.
- Resend — delivers the emails we send you.
- U.S. Census Bureau geocoder — checks that an address you enter is real. We send the address only; nothing about your identity.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of people using the service.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is active. If you want your account and personal information deleted, email us and we'll take care of it, though we may keep basic donation records where we need them for legal or safety reasons.
Your choices
You can review or update your profile any time from your account settings. To see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, email secondtabledmv@gmail.com and we'll help.
Children
Second Table is for businesses and organizations, not for children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated to account holders where it matters.
