Two hands shaking

Neighbors helping neighbors

Every donation is a handshake between a local business with food to spare and a shelter down the road.

Give good food a second table.

Second Table connects DMV businesses that have extra food with nearby shelters and pantries that can pick it up the same day. Free to post, free to collect.

Every shelter and pantry is verified by phone before it can collect.

Edible food gets thrown out while neighbors go hungry.

Businesses often have good food left at the end of the day with no fast way to give it away before it spoils. Second Table gives them a two-minute way to post it, and gives nearby shelters a simple way to claim and collect it.

Good food shouldn’t have to travel far to do some good.

Three steps, start to pickup.

  1. 1

    A business posts surplus

Restaurants, grocers, and cafés list what they have left over in a couple of minutes: the food, the quantity, and the pickup window.

  2. 2

    A shelter claims it

Shelters, pantries, and soup kitchens browse open listings nearby and reserve what they can pick up.

  3. 3

    Both sides arrange pickup

Once a business confirms the request, contact details are shared so both sides can set a time. Every donation is logged with a receipt.

You always know who you are giving to.

Before any shelter or pantry can collect, someone from Second Table calls to confirm it is a real organization serving the community. Every listing shows a clear pickup window, and both sides get a receipt when a donation is complete.

Have extra food, or need some?

Posting takes about two minutes. Shelters and pantries can start collecting as soon as they are verified.
